In March 1866, the organ was introduced into Flowerhill Church services.
Alexander Whitelaw and his family met around 50% of the cost of the organ.
Harrison and Harrison of Durham built the organ.
It has 20 stops, 3 couplers and 1196 pipes.
Over the years it has had several major overhauls, the most important being in 1954
when it was moved from it's original position in the organ loft, above the pulpit to it's
present site in the North-West corner of the Chancel.
In 2007 a complete overhaul of the organ was completed.
