Operation Mobilisation proclaiming Christ in London
The freedom of religion that exists in the UK doesn’t just extend to the nation’s citizens. At any one time there are tens of thousands of tourists in popular destinations like London who come from countries where access to the Gospel message is greatly limited. Long term residents of London who come from an immigrant background can be added to that
number. During the London Calling outreaches OM Turning Point workers equip Christians to reach Muslims in Britain with the Good news of Jesus
• Pray for tourists and immigrants to come into contact with the gospel.
• Pray that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes to Jesus
Barnabus Fund working for the perseucted church around the world
Thank God that Maryam Rostampour and Marzieh Amirizadeh have been acquitted of all charges by the Iranian authorities. “I have no doubt that God heard the prayers of his People” said Maryam. Both converts from Islam, the young women spent months in prison last year, during which time they endured repeated interrogations and solitary confinement and both became seriously ill. After their release and the dropping of one charge they still faced two other charges. The Iranian authorities warned them that any future Christian activity in Iran would have severe consequences and the women have now left Iran.
• Pray for them as they rest and recover in another country
• Pray for Christians who remain in Iran
• Pray that the power of the gospel would spread and change many lives
Tear fund ask for prayer for West Africa
'The stink of rotting carcasses just fills the bush in some places,’ says Jeff Woodke, from Tearfund partner Jemed. The stench he’s referring to comes from livestock that’s perished due to the effects of a harsh drought in Niger where 8 million people are facing extreme hunger; that’s nearly half the population. Chad, Burkina Faso and northern Nigeria are similarly suffering and the scale of the crisis has prompted Tearfund to launch an appeal to increase the help we can give. Around the world, the church is coming together to lift up to the Lord the plight of the 10 million West Africans affected by the food crisis.
• Please continue to remember the people of these affected countries in your prayers and ask the Lord to help them overcome hunger by bringing enough rain to restore pasture and crops
• Pray for Tearfund partners as they respond; pray for greater resources to reach more people in need
• Pray for more donor governments to admit the scale and depth of the crisis, and to provide humanitarian aid urgently so that it can reach the people who need it rapidly.
